The Phillies minor league system is the best in baseball record-wise, believe it or not, after a weekend that saw the affiliates go 7-2. Lehigh Valley is 23-13 and leads the IL North, Reading is 19-13 and a half game out of first, Clearwater is 22-15 and leads the FSL North and Lakewood is 21-15, one game out of first place in the SAL Northern Division.

This past week, three Phillies prospects were given Player/Pitcher of the Week Awards for their performances during games played from May 8-14. Ironpigs outfielder Dylan Cozens took home IL Player of the Week Honors while Drew Anderson and Jojo Romero were named Eastern League and South Atlantic League Pitchers of the Week, respectively.

Cozens, 22, has been all over the Phillies minor league headlines this past week. In seven games, the slugging outfielder hit .393 (11-for-28) with a double, four homers, eight RBIs, eight runs scored and a .857 slugging percentage. His 24 total bases led the IL while his slugging percentage (.857), runs scored (8) and runs batted in (8) all ranked second among IL hitters during the week. Cozens' has been a big part of Lehigh Valley's franchise-best nine-game winning streak, hitting three home runs this past week that decided the game for the Ironpigs. His most recent homer, on Sunday, was a 469 foot blast, the longest in Coca-Cola Park history.

Anderson, 23, was selected by the Phillies in the 21st round of the 2012 draft. This past week, he started two games, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out 17 hitters and walking none. On May 8, he allowed a run on three hits, striking out 10 in Reading's 2-1 win. On May 14, he hurled seven innings of one-run ball again, striking out seven and allowing just one hit. He took a no-no into the seventh inning during that game, also a 2-1 win for the Fightin' Phils. Overall this season, Anderson is 3-0 with a 4.67 ERA. After giving up 10 runs through his first two starts, he's allowed 11 runs over his past five starts combined.

Romero, 20, was a fourth round pick of the Phillies in 2016 and he earned the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week award after throwing eight one-hit innings on May 10 against Greenville, striking out eight and walking three to lower his ERA to 2.20 this season.  Over the last 28.2 innings, spanning five starts, he's allowed just four earned runs.
