Bryce Harper Likely to Return to the Phillies Lineup Against Toronto

The Philadelphia Phillies certainly missed Bryce Harper’s bat in the lineup in their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Luckily, it appears as though they will have Harper back in the lineup when the team heads to Toronto for a three-game series on Tuesday. 

Harper went through his normal pre-game routine before Sunday’s finale against the Brewers. Manager Rob Thomson said the Phillies would “see where he was at” and reiterated that Harper wasn’t expected to make a trip to the injured list. 

According to Phillies Insider Matt Gelb, the former MVP will play in Toronto. Harper has been out of the lineup since being hit by Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider on May 27.

Harper was slashing .267/.375/.450 with eight homers, 33 RBI, and an .825 OPS before getting plunked. While those numbers aren’t flashy, Harper was beginning to heat up hitting .329 with three homers and 17 RBI in the month prior.
