LEHIGH VALLEY — Lehigh Valley IronPigs RHP Phil Klein has been named International League Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 8-14, where in two starts he posted a 0.69 ERA, 0.615 WHIP and a 21-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 13 innings, according to Tom Housenick of The Morning Call.

Klein, 27, is the fifth Phillies organization arm to receive such honor this season, joining right-handers Zach Eflin (April 11-17), Ben Lively (June 6-12) and David Buchanan (July 18-24), as well as southpaw Adam Morgan (Aug. 1-7).

The Columbus, Ohio native was claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers on June 19. In 11 appearances within the Phillies' organization since, the three-year veteran is 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA over 43 1/3 innings.

Klein has made one Major League appearance this season so far with the Phillies, where on Aug. 3 against the San Francisco Giants in a spot start for Aaron Nola (right elbow strain) he allowed four runs in five innings en route to a no-decision.
