Growing Speculation Kellen Moore Told the Dallas Cowboys “Thanks but No Thanks”

In a shocking –but oh so Jerrah move – the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly close to naming Brian Schottenheimer as their next head football coach. The move comes after all signs pointed to current Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore being the heir apparent to the recently ousted Mike McCarthy.
Moore, who is in his first season as the Philadelphia offensive coordinator, interviewed for the Dallas job on the Friday preceding the Eagles-Rams NFC divisional playoff game. And as of late Tuesday evening/early Wednesday morning, the 35-year-old was considered to be the “front-runner” for the job.
So, what exactly happened?
There’s growing speculation that Moore isn’t the head coach in Dallas because he TURNED DOWN the Cowboys offer.
While there’s no concrete evidence (yet) that Moore told Jerrah to pound sand, longtime Cowboys blogger Mauricio Rodriguez attempts to connect the dots on why Moore is (for now) remaining the offensive coordinator with the Eagles. He points out an ESPN report that Moore and Dallas met for considerably less than their allotted three-hours. Rodriguez also speculates that Jones’ over involvement in the minute-to-minute operation of the team might’ve led to Moore’s decision.
Wouldn’t that be something!
