Kellen Moore “A Name to Watch” as the Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Search Begins

Surprise!
Okay, not really.
When the Dallas Cowboys officially parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy many assumed that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore would at least be a name of interest in Big D. That does in fact appear to be the case. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport calls the Birds’ primary play caller a “name to watch” as the Evil Empire looks for a new coach.
Originally an undrafted free agent by Detroit in 2012, Moore appeared in three games, including two starts, for Dallas during the 2015 NFL regular season. The Boise State product retired and transitioned to the Cowboys coaching staff after two injury plagued seasons in 2016 and 2017, respectively. First as a quarterback coach (2018) and then as the club’s offensive coordinator from 2019 until he and Dallas agreed to “mutually part ways” after the 2022-23 NFL regular season.
Moore’s other coaching ventures include a one-year stopover in Los Angeles with the Chargers and this season in Philadelphia. He was not retained when Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach in LA opening the door for his arrival in Philadelphia. Under Moore’s guidance, the Eagles ranked in the top 10 of total offense (367.2 YPG) in the NFL including being the number two rushing team in the league with 179.3 yards per game.
The 35-year-old has already interviewed for head coaching vacancies in Jacksonville and New Orleans, respectively.
