Matt Read took three shifts in Sunday's game between the Flyers and Nashville Predators before heading to the bench in pain. He never returned to the Flyers 4-2 win.

On Monday, GM Ron Hextall announced that Read will be out four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Read has six goals and 10 points on the season in 27 games, but Read has gone 15 straight games without a goal and has just three points in that time.

With Read out, the Flyers sent Scott Laughton back to the Phantoms and called up Taylor Leier. Leier has six goals and 14 assists in 22 games. Leier will be available to play on Tuesday night.

The Flyers will look to extend a five-game winning streak on Tuesday night when they host the Florida Panthers.
