Flyers vs. Avalanche Preview: Turning the Page

Thursday’s loss for the Flyers, their second straight shutout loss and fourth defeat in the last five games, was largely overshadowed by the news that came after midnight. A trade sending Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to the Calgary Flames immediately shook up the roster.
While the newest faces for the Flyers coming from Calgary may not be available to play just yet, there are new faces in the lineup, as the Flyers head on the road for the next two games, starting Sunday afternoon against the Colorado Avalanche.
Game time is 3 p.m.

Cale Makar has been picking up plenty of points of late. He has seven points in his last seven games and nine points in his last 10 games, including six of his 19 goals on the season. Makar had a big game against the Flyers on Nov. 18, scoring two goals.
Sam Ersson is expected to get the start for the Flyers. Ersson allowed four goals on 16 shots in his last start against the Devils last Wednesday before being pulled. Ersson has won eight of his last 11 starts.
Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to start for the Avalanche. Blackwood made 19 saves in a shutout win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday. Blackwood has just three wins in his last eight starts. Prior to the shutout win on Friday, Blackwood had allowed three goals or more in five straight starts.
