Philadelphia Phillies Confirm 2025 International Signing Period Additions

Earlier on Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies officially announced their 2025 MLB international signing class which includes 32 international free agents from Latin American and Europe.

The keystone of the Phils’ 2025 international signing period class is 17-year-old shortstop Nieves Izaguirre. A native of Venezuela, Izaguirre is the No. 44 ranked international prospect according to MLB Pipeline’s international rankings. The young infielder comes from a long line of professional baseball players including his cousins Ronald Acuna Jr and Luisangel Acuna. According to MLB’s Jesse Borek, the Phillies spent $800,000 of their $6.26 million international pool on Izaguirre.

While complete contract figures are not yet available, the Phillies have made the following salaries known:

  • INF Elias Marrero -$700,000.00
  • C Deivis Velasquez -$620,000.00
  • RHP Geremy Villoria -$425,000.00
  • OF Leonardo Carpio -$350,000.00
  • OF Dayber Cruceta -$300,000.00
