Radnor, PA: When you think of lacrosse and certain cities where it’s popular, Philadelphia is on that list. The Premier Lacrosse League would make their stop in Philadelphia for the homecoming for the Philadelphia Waterdogs and the games would be played at Villanova University.

On Friday night, the Waterdogs would do battle with the Boston Cannons. This game would be for 1st place in the East. Boston came into the game with a record of 2-0 while the Dogs entered at 1-0.

How the gamer went:
Boston would get the scoring started early in the 1st quarter on a goal from Graydon Hogg.

Then, Kieran McArdle got the Waterdogs on the board to even things at 1.

The “Holy Crap” play of the game was the 2nd goal of this game for Boston from Marcus Holman.

The Dogs would score four straight goals to end the 1st quarter with a 5-2 lead.

Michael Sowers would have 4 assists in the 1st quarter

There would be history made with Philadelphia Waterdogs Zach Curriier’s goal, which made it 4-2 for the Waterdogs, The score would make him the 1st player in PLL History with 300+ groundballs and 200+ points!

The Waterdogs continued their scoring run by making it 6-2 to make it five straight.

The Boston Cannons would score a 2-point goal in response, which cut the Dogs’ lead to 6-4 with 7:24 left in the 2nd quarter.

Boston would continue to attempt to cut into the Waterdogs’ lead, but the Waterdogs would have none of it. Ultimately, the Waterdogs would take an 8-7 lead into halftime.

Going into the second half, what could the Waterdogs do to keep the pressure on the Cannons?

They would keep things difficult for the Cannons; In the 3rd quarter, the Dogs would come out &  increase the lead to 13-8. The Cannons had no idea what hit them and they looked very sloppy the rest of the night.

The play of the game was this sick between-the-legs goal by Waterdogs attacker Jake Taylor.

The Philadelphia Waterdogs would hold on for a 14-11 win.

With the win, the Waterdogs remain undefeated at 2-0 and are in 1st place in the East.

The Player of the Game was the Philadelphia Waterdogs’ Michael Sowers, who scored 2 goals & had 5 assists for a 7-point night.

This was a good win for the Waterdogs. During the 2024 season, they lost both of their homecoming games in overtime & they wanted to give the fans something to talk about this time around.

What is next?
The Philadelphia Waterdogs will now attempt to remain undefeated on the season and have an undefeated Philadelphia Homecoming as they battle the Denver Outlaws tomorrow at 7 PM on ESPN+.
