Phillies vs. Blue Jays: What to Know

The Philadelphia Phillies (36-23, 1.5 GB NL East) enter the three-game series on a four-game losing streaking including a dismal three-game sweep by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Phillies were originally set to start Zack Wheeler in the opening game of the series, but he will be away from the team as his wife is set to give birth any day. Instead, the Phillies will turn to Cristopher Sanchez to right the ship in game one. Rookie Mick Abel will return to the Big Leagues for his second career start in game two and Jesus Luzardo will look to bounce back from a horrific outing in game three. The Phillies will likely be getting some offensive firepower back in the lineup on Tuesday. Bryce Harper is expected to rejoin the lineup after being hit by Atlanta’s Spencer Strider on May 27.

The Toronto Blue Jays (31-28, 5.5 GB AL East) enter the series fresh winners of five in a row including a four-game sweep of the Athletics. The Jays will turn to Bowden Francis, Jose Berrios, and Chris Bassitt to help stop the Phillies.
