Philadelphia: There is a certain feel when one of the top teams from Europe comes to your city, and that is what we saw on Thursday night from Lincoln Financial Field as Real Madrid took on FC Salzburg in the final game of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Coming into this game, Real Madrid was battling to claim the top spot in Group H alongside Al Hilal, while FC Salzburg needed a win and a loss from Al Hilal (to CF Pachuca) to secure a spot in the knockout round.

How the game went:
In the first half, both Real Madrid & FC Salzburg would have some chances, but most of the scoring opportunities in the first half were from Real Madrid.

They had one of the better chances in the 20th minute off a breakaway and the FC Salzburg goalie Zawieschitzky made a fantastic kick save:

The scoring would get started from Real Madrid in the 40th minute from Vinicius Junior:

During 1st half stoppage time, Real Madrid would add to the lead with a goal from Federico Valverde:

Real Madrid would take a 2-0 lead into halftime & everything was going their way.

What could FC Salzburg do to get back into the game & make things interesting?

They would ultimately have a good chance to get back into the game, but Real Madrid said no:

In the 65th minute, FC Salzburg would have another chance to get on the board, but could not finish:

So what was the attendance for tonight’s game?

As the final whistle blew, Real Madrid got the win and will move on to the knockout stage.
