Charley Hughlett

The Eagles have waived their long snapper for the second time this month following doing so early in December.

The earlier release cleared the way for Charley Hughlett to return to the active roster from injury, but the team released him Monday.

At this point, there is no reason being reported for the move.

It could be possible the team is looking to try and game their roster management by clearing a roster spot for someone else they are looking to return (injuries include Andrew Mukuba and Azeez Ojulari among others). They have used the long snapper (and punter) position in this way during roster cuts to essentially expand their roster and could even look to sign Hughlett to the practice squad and just elevate him for games from there.

The Eagles have so far been undefeated in games where Hughlett is the long snapper.
