For the second straight night, holding a two-goal lead during the final period wasn’t an issue, as the Flyers locked down their third straight win, sweeping the Western Canada trip with a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.

The Western Canada trip concludes with one final game on the road against the Vancouver Canucks, with the Flyers looking for their first three-game win streak of the season.

Last week, this would probably have been another example of a game the Flyers found a way to lose. This time, the Flyers came out on the right end, claiming their second straight win, 4-2, over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night.

Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere journeyed back to through his first two seasons in the NHL, his path to being drafted and his childhood in a Players Tribune piece posted on Wednesday simply titled, “You Might Know Me as Ghost.”

With the losing streak over, the Flyers look for a second straight win against the Oilers on Wednesday night in Edmonton. Game time is 9:30 p.m.

Defenseman Brandon Manning and goalie Michal Neuvirth were placed on injured reserve. Specifics of the injuries was not disclosed, but both will be out a minimum of seven days as a result. To fill out the roster, the Flyers have recalled defenseman T.J. Brennan and goalie Alex Lyon from the Phantoms.

Dave Hakstol’s future with the Flyers may be safe for now, and with many kids still so early in development, that may be understandable from Ron Hextall’s perspective. But Hakstol’s management of young players is concerning to his future.

At long last, it’s finally over. The Flyers put together a flurry of goals in the second period to open up a lead and held down the fort defensively in the third to finally finish off a game and snap their 10-game losing streak, beating the Flames, 5-2, on Monday night.

“Dave Hakstol is our coach and he will remain our coach. Period,” Flyers GM Ron Hextall said. “I’ve said it over and over, and I’m not going to say it again.”
