Patrick Johnson is getting a shot at a ring.

The former Eagles draft pick who has spent four of his first five seasons in the league is getting extra pay and that shot at glory by signing with the Patriots practice squad.

New England announced the signing Wednesday afternoon.

Johnson was waived in September of the 2024 season and claimed by the Giants the next day, so he did not get to experience the Super Bowl win with the Eagles.

He was with the team two years earlier, however, so he’s got the experience of prepping this late in the postseason.

In a bit of an odd way, Johnson benefits here from having been waived in early November to make room on the Eagles 53-man roster. The Eagles then signed him to their practice squad and, since he did not agree to a futures contract with the team, it allowed him to get picked up by one of the only two teams left playing for their practice squad.

That gets Johnson the extra checks and a shot at getting his name on this Super Bowl.
