The Temple Owls have landed a highly rated defensive back out of the NCAA transfer portal. The Owls announced Pittsburgh native Dontae Pollard has signed with the program after playing the past two seasons for Samford.

Pollard will arrive on North Broad St. after two-years with FCS program Samford. During his time with the Bulldogs, Pollard amassed 58 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, six passes defensed, and a pair of interceptions. Originally a true cornerback, Pollard played a nickel/rover type role last season for Samford. Pollard originally signed with the Akron Zips out of high school. He appeared in 12 games as true freshman in a reserve/special teams’ role before transferring down a level.

A three-star transfer portal player, the Penn Hills High School product committed to Temple over other FBS programs including Ohio, Western Kentucky, and Sam Houston State.
