It is now official, the Eagles have opened the practice window for Nolan Smith.
He had been eligible to be activated earlier, but this means he can practice with the team over the next few weeks with the team only activating him when he’s ready.
If not activated over the next couple of weeks, he will be out for the season and unable to return.

The team also waived Patrick Johnson. Johnson was an Eagles draft pick and has spent most of his career in Philadelphia.
The release of Terrace Marshall from the practice squad is evidence that the Eagles would probably like Johnson to take that spot and remain with the team. He’s flashed at times, but hasn’t gotten up in the rotation enough that the Eagles are unwilling to risk losing him.
Marshall had been with the team since he signed this offseason.
UPDATE: The Eagles re-signed Johnson to the practice squad a day later. His early release ahead of the deadline allowed him to avoid waivers and choose to stay in Philly.
