Although Lane Johnson left the game against the Packers two weeks ago, he was able to return at the end of the game.

The hope was that was behind him and the team would get him back for the Lions game. That was, until Johnson suffered another injury in the beginning of that game.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is now reporting the injury was a Lisfranc sprain and will likely see Johnson miss 4-6 weeks.

There are second opinions to be had, but this is almost certainly an IR stint for the Eagles right tackle.

It means Fred Johnson is the presumptive starter in Dallas, against Chicago, in LA (Chargers), and against the Raiders. Going up to six weeks, he’d also be starting in DC and in Buffalo the next two weeks.

That makes Howie Roseman’s trade to re-acquire Fred Johnson at the end of the offseason a potentially major move for the club.

Four weeks would have Johnson returning with three games left in the regular season, six would have him returning with only the final regular season game left on the schedule before playoffs.

Previous lisfranc injuries have taken Eagles players longer than four weeks to fully heal, but each player is different.

The last instance of a lisfranc injury was Nakobe Dean in 2023. He was officially placed on IR 11 days after suffering the injury, then missed the Eagles final eight games of the season. That said, Dean was in his first year playing real snaps on defense and hadn’t broken out yet. Meanwhile, the Eagles were in the middle of their freefall to turn their 10-1 record into an 11-6 one so it was not a time the Eagles were looking to rush anyone back.

More information to come on the Eagles veteran as it is released.
