The first chapter of Carter Hart’s NHL career is sure to be shorter than the ones to come, after playing in 31 games in his rookie season. He’s about to start writing the second chapter of what all of Philadelphia hopes is a long and prosperous career. The Flyers are hoping for the same this season.

While the Flyers playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread, we look at other teams surrounding the playoff picture in this week’s Around the NHL.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Flyers are in preliminary discussions with the Edmonton Oilers regarding a trade around goalie Cam Talbot.

Make no mistake about it, Carter Hart has all the makings of an NHL goalie at 20 years old, and the numbers are backing it up.

The Flyers recalled 20-year-old netminder Carter Hart on Monday. Goalie Alex Lyon was returned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Anthony Stolarz, who left Saturday’s game with an injury, is out for 2-to-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.

The changes keep coming. The Flyers announced that assistant GM Chris Pryor and assistant coach Gord Murphy have been fired.
