Oskar Lindblom tied the game with 5:02 to play in the third, helping the Flyers force overtime and keep their points streak alive at three games. But Jacob Markstrom and the Canucks got the last laugh in a 3-2 shootout win.
Carter Hart made a sprawling save on Taylor Hall during the Flyers successful kill of the 5-on-3 to preserve a 1-0 lead. He stopped the rest of the 24 shots faced for his first career shutout in a 4-0 win over the Devils on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
Last Friday’s game was technically considered a home game for the Flyers, but they will play their home opener on Wednesday night when they face the New Jersey Devils at Wells Fargo Center. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
After a fairly sloppy and wide-open first period against the Blackhawks, the Flyers started to tighten things up in the second and third periods, playing a solid all-around game. It’s only the first step to having a better start than in years past, but very early on you saw the potential the Flyers have to offer.

The end results have not been as desired to start the preseason, but that means very little before the regular season. There are no points on the line and rosters are not fully constructed. All you had to do was look at the two rosters in Tuesday’s game on the road for the Flyers to see the disparity.
The Islanders scored with 1:34 left in the third to force overtime and won the game in the final minute of overtime, defeating the Flyers, 3-2, on Tuesday night in Long Island.
Following Monday’s preseason opener, a 3-1 loss to the Islanders, the Flyers will get right back on the ice for another preseason tilt on Tuesday night on the road against the Islanders.
The third-line winger competition is one of the focal points in Flyers training camp with prospects, veteran newcomers and returning veterans all in the mix.
