The Flyers have announced that they have hired the 19th coach in team history, Dave Hakstol. In eleven seasons at the University of North Dakota, he amassed a 289-143-43 record. He took North Dakota to the Frozen Four seven times and never missed the NCAA tournament as head coach.
Those looking for a Flyers connection, Ron Hextall's son Brett played for him as did Chris VandeVelde. He has also coached Jonathan Toews, T.J. Oshie and Travis Zajac among others.
