The Flyers won by a healthy margin this afternoon in a balanced team attack with all lines creating chances.

Lets take a deeper look into the eye of the storm with some of today's numbers.

After a lull in the first period the Flyers really picked up the pace to the tune of five goals.

After their 5th goal the Flyers were playing a more defensive minded game, cycling all four lines equally. This caused the Hurricanes to take over the shot total battle due to some score effects.

The top line played well and generated both scoring chances and goals in their time on the ice. They generated a goal off a beautiful setup with Michael Raffl scoring off the assists from Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.

Each line played nearly the same amount of minutes at even strength, with the 2nd and 4th lines getting the toughest deployment. Even with less offensive zone starts the 2nd line was able to score two goals, including Scott Laughton's first career NHL goal.

The 3rd line controlled play when they were on the ice in an increased offensive work load. RJ Umberger even managed to lead the line with 56% CF. This line also opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the game when Sean Couturier scored from Matt Read and Umberger to open the scoring. Couturier now has a 6-game point streak going.

The 4th line did their job and grinded out the minutes they were given. They were able to keep the Hurricanes off of the scoreboard and even had a few chances of their own.

Not too much to say about these numbers. The blow out allowed Andrew MacDonald to lead the team in ice time at even strength.

Just like last game, Nick Schultz and Mark Streit lead the way as they both continue their stellar seasons.
