Eagles Offseason: Joe Douglas Rejoining Eagles Following Scouting Department Losses

The Eagles are replenishing their front office a bit.
On Monday, the news broke that Joe Douglas, former Jets GM, would be heading back to Philly.
Former Jets GM Joe Douglas is returning ot the Eagles in a senior scouting role, per league source. (I believe @Jeff_McLane reported it first.)
Douglas was with the Eagles from 2016-2019. He’s a respected figure in the organization and was a key part of the front office that…

Douglas had been fired from the Jets last season and the Eagles were his previous stop from 2016-2019 when he served as vice president of player personnel.
He is originally from the Ozzie Newsome front office in Baltimore.
Douglas received a lot of credit for helping to build the Eagles first-ever Super Bowl winning roster.
He didn’t have a great stint as GM, but he was working for the Jets and dealing with all that comes with that. One such instance is the report that the owner killed a trade Douglas had planned on to acquire Jerry Jeudy (who went on to have a nearly 1,300-yard receiving season) because Jeudy’s ratings in Madden weren’t good enough.
The Jets, of course, deny this – but anyone who’s seen the NFL knows it’s certainly not far-fetched for such a poorly-run organization to do something like that.
The point is that it seems unlikely or perhaps impossible there will be anyone who looks good after taking a job in the Jets front office.
The Eagles this offseason have lost both Anthony Patch and Brandon Hunt to the Raiders where they received promotions, so Douglas returning could help to ease that blow and help to patch a hole somewhere.
