The Phantoms had a decent weekend, winning just one of their three games but did manage to pick up three points in three games.

Friday night resulted in a 3-1 loss in Binghamton. Rob Zepp got the start in net and stopped 37 of 40 shots, but the Phantoms only managed one goal from Zack Stortini in the loss.

Saturday’s contest against the Penguins was a nail-biter. Petr Straka scored early for the Phantoms in the first, and the game remained that way until late in the 3rd period.

The Penguins tied the game up with just over two minutes remaining in the game, and the game was headed to overtime.

Both teams came up empty in overtime, and we went to a shootout.

Straka, Taylor Leier and Nick Cousins all scored in the shootout for the 2-1 victory.

The Phantoms only had 24 shots on goal but allowed 45, with Anthony Stolarz stopping 44 of them.

Sunday’s matinee on the boardwalk was a back-and-forth affair. The Devils came out to an early lead and held it for two periods. However, the third period saw five goals, three by the Phantoms and two by the Devils.

The Phantoms held a lead twice in the third period but couldn’t manage to hang on. The game headed to overtime where the Devils won it 4-3.

Zepp stopped 33 of the 37 shots he faced in the loss.

The Reading Royals won the first two of a three game set against Wheeling at home on Friday and Saturday, but they could not complete the sweep in Wheeling last night.
