Report: Sixers to sign Justin Harper to 10-day contract

A report from Shams Charania of The Vertical says that the Sixers will sign forward Justin Harper to a 10-day contract:

The move comes on the heels of the Nerlens Noel trade, and the team's decision to shut down Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid for the remainder of the season that has suddenly left the Sixers thin in the frontcourt.

The Sixers waived guard Chasson Randle in order to open a roster spot to absorb Andrew Bogut's salary in the Noel deal, and with Bogut and the Sixers recently agreeing on a buyout, the Sixers had an available roster spot to add someone to fill in in the frontcourt for the remainder of the season.

Harper most recently played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA D-League. Harper's stat line in the D-League suggests that he can attempt to take on some of the duties of Joel Embiid. Harper averaged 16.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 40.1% from three-point range.

The 27-year-old forward played 14 games with the Orlando Magic during the 2011-12 season, and made five appearances for the Detroit Pistons last season, when he was also a D-League All Star.
