Report: Jahlil Okafor works out for 4 teams in Vegas

Former Philadelphia 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor has had quite a fall from grace since his college days at Duke. After winning a National Championship in 2015, Okafor was selected third overall by Sam Hinkie and the Sixers. Jah had a strong rookie year, averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 53 games prior to partially tearing his meniscus. As his Sixers tenure progressed, his defensive inefficiencies became magnified and he eventually found himself riding the bench full-time. After being the subject of trade talks for some time, Okafor was finally dealt to Brooklyn this past season in hopes of getting to earn minutes regularly, but that never happened.

Now Okafor enters unrestricted free agency with little interest due in large part to his defensive play, or lack thereof. In 26 games for the Nets last season, he averaged 6.4 points and 2.9 boards in 12.6 minutes per game. There hasn't been any serious suitors for Okafor's services, but according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News, the former top-3 pick worked out for four teams in Las Vegas last week.

According to sources, Okafor, the No. 3 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, worked out for four teams last Wednesday in Las Vegas, and remains hopeful of signing with a team ahead of training camp next fall.

Deveney goes on to mention that Okafor has had interest from the Pacers and Bulls this summer, but neither team attended his Vegas workout.

Jah has been working on polishing his game and recently posting a video displaying the improvement in his mid and long range shot.

According to report, Okafor is down 17 pounds from his listed weight. At this point, expanding his shot seems to be the best idea to market himself, but it will be his defensive play the determines his NBA future.
