Report: Sixers Still Interested In Jamal Crawford

Training camp is right around the corner and the Philadelphia 76ers may not be finished making moves to bolster their roster. Marc Spears of ESPN appeared on "The Jump" on Thursday and said that while the 38-year-old isn't close to making a decision on a new team, the Sixers and Lakers are "among the contenders".

Miguel Gargaritano of Clutch Points posted the video and quote from Spears:

“He said ‘Nothing yet,’ but he’s had some interest from the Lakers, had some interest from the Sixers. Had some from Golden State although I don’t think the Golden State thing will be there with Patrick McCaw coming back”

Last season for the Timberwolves, Crawford averaged 10.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds in a reserve role. He shot 41.5 percent from the floor and 33.1 percent from beyond the arc. In early August, Crawford told Brandon Robinson of Scoop B that he'd be honored to play in Philadelphia.

"I like their city.  I like how into it they are about basketball, I like their knowledge of basketball, and how passionate they are.  I’ve always loved Coach Brett Brown. I’ve been on record, I’ve been a fan of his for years."

He just needed talent, and now he has that.  He added Ben Simmons, I love his game. I love Jojo (Joel Embiid). They’re both among my favorite players in the league to watch.

The Sixers have 19 players officially signed, but only 14 with guaranteed contracts, so they still have room to add Crawford if they were interested. Although many believe that Crawford would bring a long-range scoring punch off the bench, it is worth noting that he is a big defensive liability. His defensive rating ranked in the bottom third of the league at 112.9 and he finished with an overall net rating of -4.7.
