Freddy Galvis Has Possible Fracture In His Back, Out For Significant Amount of Time

Galvisback
Well this just ruined my weekend.

According to numerous sources, Phillies second baseman Freddy Galvis could possibly have a Pars Fracture in his back. Galvis, who was put on the 15-day DL with a lower back strain, could possibly be in a back brace for at least 6 weeks before beginning rehab.

A Pars Fracture is scientifically called SpondylolysisSpondylolysis is a crack in the spine that is related to pressure and stress on the vertabrae. The only treatments are a back brace and lots of rest. Galvis will have a second opinion done on this to make 100% sure he has a fracture or not before possibly returning to the field.

What does this mean?

Well we're pretty much shit out of luck this season with injuries. Galvis started off the season slow at the plate but it's his work with his glove that has given him praise. Michael Martinez and Mike Fontenot will most likely switch off at second base from now on.
