Johan Santana Throws First No-Hitter In New York Mets History

Johan
It took 50 long, long years but finally the New York Mets have a no-hitter.

Lefty Johan Santana tossed the franchise-first as well as career-first no-no tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals. Backed by 8 runs, Santana threw 134 pitches, a career-huigh, to make history. The Mets are now 29-23 on the year.

Tonight and tonight only, I am a fan of Johan Santana. Hate me all you want, but I love pitching so much that I root for anybody to get a no-hitter/perfect game.

Now that that's over with. The San Diego Padres remain the only team in the MLB to have never thrown a no-hitter.

I guess Wheels will have an easier task next time this Stump the Fans question comes up.

PS – Our @FrankKlose had no idea he won this "Stump the Fans" until we went onto the site to grab a screen cap of the question from the other day.
