Great news from Philadelphia!

According to MLB's Todd Zolecki, Phillies ace Roy Halladay will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday, July 12. The Phillies' righthander will start for single-A Clearwater Threshers and if all goes well, he could be back in a Phils' uniform by Tuesday when the Phillies are in Los Angeles.

This is all great news for the Phillies, who entered the All-Star break 14 games out of first place with a 37-50 record. The last time Halladay pitched for the Phillies was May 27th, when he lasted just two innings allowing four hits and four earned runs on a grand slam home run against the St. Louis Cardinals. Halladay left the game with shoulder soreness, but was later diagnosed with a strained lat, an injury that would cause him to miss 6-8 weeks.

It seems that 6-8 weeks is too long for Doc, as he is ready to get back on the mound and help turn this team around for a successful second half.
