After yesterday's reports that Phillies' reliever Antonio Bastardo had been handed and accepted a 50-game suspension due to his activitiy related to the Biogenesis scandal, the Phillies need a replacement.

This afternoon, the Phillies selected the contract of 29-year-old, left-handed pitcher Cesar Jimenez. Jimenez, who is 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 36 games with Lehigh this season, will get another shot at the bigs as he takes Bastardo's spot on the roster.

Jimenez last played in the majors with the Seattle Marines in 2011. In December of 2012, the Phillies signed him to a minor-league deal.

Let's see how this pans out for the already hurting Phillies bullpen.
