Phillies, Braves to Honor Jim Fregosi On March 5 at Bright House Field

Fregosi

The Phillies and Braves will honor the late Jim Fregosi, who passed away last Friday, in a pre-game tribute on March 5 at Bright House Field.

Fregosi, 71, passed away February 14 after suffering multiple strokes on an MLB alumni cruise.

Phillies vice president of alumni relations Larry Shenk announced the tribute today in a statement.

“Jim Fregosi, who spent 53 years in the game, was one of the most respected men in baseball,” Shenk said. “We invite fans to join us on March 5 as we celebrate Jim’s legacy.”

Fregosi managed the Phils from 1991-1996 and in five seasons as the skipper, Fregosi went 431-463 and took them to the playoffs for the first time in ten seasons – winning a pennant in the process.
