Eagles Jason Kelce blasts Giants punter Steve Weatherford

This offseason has been nothing if but entertaining. Every other week there seemed to be a new, breaking story regarding the Eagles that sent shock waves around the NFL.

One week, the Eagles traded All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for Kiko Alonso. Another week, they traded Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford. They released Evan Mathis and lost Jeremy Maclin to free agency. And of course, the Eagles signed Byron Maxwell, Ryan Mathews, DeMarco Murray, and media darling Tim Tebow.

This attention, at least in part, has caused other teams to take potshots at the Eagles. First, Dallas Cowboy running back Joseph Randle took a shot at new Eagle DeMarco Murray, claiming that Murray "left meat on the bone" in the run game last year.

Now, Giants punter Steve Weatherford compared the Eagles' quarterbacks to cars, telling the Boomer and Carton show that "I'm gonna give you a Ferrari [Bradford] that maybe you won't be running all the time, or I'm going to give you a nice Cadillac sedan [Sanchez]. It's not the fastest but you know what you're going to get out of it. Bradford can go from 0 to 60 in three seconds, but you dont know if he's gonna start up some days."

Weatherford cautioned the Eagles against signing Bradford to an extension, saying "Chip Kelly will get himself in serious trouble if they get an extension for that guy. And [if] he gets hurt? He's done."

On Tim Tebow, Weatherford did not pull any punches: "I'm the biggest Tim Tebow fan in the world. I mean, who wouldn't want their daughter to date a guy like that? I'll tell you what, I don't want him taking snaps for my team."

This obviously did not sit well with Eagles fans. Apparently, it did not sit well with Jason Kelce either, who took to Twitter with the following:

Kelce has endeared himself to Eagles fans in the past with his open and candid assessments of the team. It's great to see him back up his quarterbacks and take a shot back at the Giants punter. It will be interesting to see if this feud carries over to the season. Although as Kelce astutely points out, Weatherford is likely immune from retaliation because he's a punter. Punters aren't even real football players, so they are treated as such.
