Lost in the scuffle of Super Bowl Sunday was the Adam Schefter ESPN report that revealed the Eagles had interest in possibly re-acquiring quarterback Nick Foles. After a few local beat writers nixed the report, it seemed as if the story might not have any legs behind it, despite the credibility of the original scoop.
Schefter doubled down on his report Monday afternoon, almost acknowledging its original timing being buried behind Super Bowl hype.
For those who missed it: Eagles will not use franchise tag on QB Sam Bradford and they are expected to inquire about adding QB Nick Foles.

On Tuesday, NJ.com writer and former Eagledelphia editor Matt Lombardo became one of the local scribes to support Scheffer's reporting, according to his sources.

Lombardo's stance is a strong one. Pederson's interest level in Foles makes some sense, given his work with the former Eagles QB back when he was a position coach during his rookie season. Maybe he, as well as others within the organization, feel as if Foles' time in St. Louis served as a roadblock in his development and they could possibly get him back on track in Philadelphia. Despite all that's already happened with the Eagles going back towards the end of the 2015 season, having Foles re-assume the starting quarterback spot would have to top the list. Given what has taken place with both sides since he was traded to the Rams, it's just a difficult hypothetical to imagine.
