Eagles-Dolphins trade may be called off due to Byron Maxwell Shoulder Injury

According to ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder, a shoulder injury suffered by Byron Maxwell during the regular season and its lingering effects could cause Miami to call off the reported trade of Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso that surfaced earlier this week.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided his own intel on the matter moments after Werder's initial report.

Maxwell injured his shoulder late in the regular season and was forced to miss the final two weeks of the regular season. The initial reporting of this trade goes back to earlier in the week and Maxwell and Alonso are reportedly already in Miami to take physicals. The nature of the NFL's 'legal tampering' period is subject to these types of developments, as pen cannot officially be put to paper until 4PM. This matter will severely hamstring the Eagles course of action, given the salary cap and position ramifications.
