The Lehigh Valley Phantoms avenged Saturday night's loss in Allentown that snapped a five-game winning streak by bursting the door down of the team who broke it, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, with a 4-1 win in Bridgeport on Sunday night.
The Phantoms again were backed by their new young talent, with newcomers Travis Sanheim and Nicolas Aube-Kubel picking up points.
A power-play goal would start the scoring for Lehigh Valley, as Robert Hagg cashed in just 8:15 into the contest. Sanheim would get the assist for his first point in just two games on the blue line for the Phantoms. Taylor Leier picked up the other assist for his first of two points on the night.
Lehigh Valley dominated the first two periods of play, outshooting Bridgeport 15-4 in the first and 16-5 in the second. Their second goal would come 13 seconds into the second with Leier potting one in tight. Reece Willcox picked up his second point in four games with an assist on the goal, another bright young spot for the Phantoms.
The lead would get extended to three with another power-play goal, this time from Sam Morin, with less than three minutes to go in the second.
Aube-Kubel would add his first professional goal in the third, rounding out a dominating offensive effort from the Phantoms young guns on the weekend.
Anthony Stolarz came just 19 seconds short of a shutout, surrendering a goal to Tyler Barnes in the dying seconds.
Notes: New additions Sanheim, Lindblom and Aube-Kubel combined for seven points (three goals, four assists) in three games over the weekend.
Truly being led by the youth movement, seven of the phantoms 12 goals in those three games this weekend were scored by players 25 years of age or younger, truly spelling out the future of the Flyers organization.
Up Next: The Phantoms are off until Friday night, when they take on the rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at home before traveling to face another rival in the Hershey Bears on Saturday. Lehigh Valley will end the season the same way they started it, with a home game against the Syracuse Crunch, on Sunday.
