Hellickson, Phillies aim to continue playing spoiler against Marlins

Philadelphia, PA - This evening at Citizens Bank Park, the Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on their 13-inning victory on Friday against the Miami Marlins as Jeremy Hellickson takes the mound against Jose Urena. The Marlins currently trail the Mets by five games for the final Wild Card spot in the National League.

Last night, the Phillies and Marlins went into 13 innings with Jimmy Paredes playing hero courtesy of an RBI-single to drive in Peter Bourjos and win the game walk-off style. Odubel Herrera, depsite the promotion of Roman Quinn, has been strong recently, tallying multi-hit efforts in three of his last four games. Last night, he was 3-for-6 with an RBI double and a run scored. 

Heading into play on Saturday, the Marlins lead the season series 10-8.

Following three subpar starts, Hellickson rebounded in his last outing, tossing 6.1 innings against the Pirates allowing an unearned run while striking out six. The 29-year-old right-hander has made five starts against the Marlins this season, going 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA. 

Urena, 25, is coming off of his best outing this season, hurling 8.2 scoreless innings, scattering four hits and tallying four strikeouts against the Dodgers. He's appeared in four games against the Phillies the season, two as a starter, posting an 0-1 record to go along with a 4.26 ERA.  Odubel Herrera is 3 for 6 with a triple against Urena.
