Dave Sholler, UFC Vice President of Public Relations, Athlete Marketing and Development, announced on Twitter that he trading in breaking up fights at press conferences for a job with his hometown team.
It's time to go home, to the organization I grew up rooting for. Will miss fight game very, very much, but excited for the new challenge.— Dave Sholler (@DaveSholler) October 13, 2016
John Morgan of MMA Junkie reports that Sholler will officially part ways with UFC following UFC 205 on November 12 at Madison Square Garden. From there Shuller, a New Jersey native, will be overseeing all communications for the Philadelphia 76ers.
As the Sixers hopefully begin to turn a new corner in the coming season and years to follow, it's an interesting time for Sholler to join a team that is starting to get somewhere beyond a laughing stock in the national media. Ben Simmons alone got ESPN to pick up Opening Night and while he's on ice for a while, the debuts of Joel Embiid and Dario Saric have people talking about the Sixers in a positive way beyond the area.
