The Philadelphia 76ers are visiting the Staples Center again, but this time they will face the Los Angeles Lakers. It's a chance to see Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball go at it. Also, while on this road trip, they'll look to sweep this building. Both teams ended short losing streaks with wins over Pacific division teams. The Sixers ended a two game losing streak with a win over the Clippers, 109-105. The Lakers ended a three game losing streak by defeating the Phoenix Suns 100-93.
Ben and Jerry's Ball
Ben Simmons is playing very well at this point. He's averaging 17.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game while shooting just under 50 percent from the field. He doesn't really have a jumper, but doesn't seem to matter at this time. Ball is averaging 9.5 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.6 rebounds a game. Unlike Simmons, his shooting has been poor this season. He's shooting 31 percent from the floor. That's close to Brixers territory.
This should be a close one
These two teams, on paper, are actually pretty close to one another and it has the makings of a very entertaining game. It'll be on ESPN, so the NBA figured two of the most young and exciting teams in the league would make good TV. This should be a good game. The Sixers better just win.
A rivalry brewing?
Remember when Joel Embiid and Simmons tag-teamed on Twitter on the hope that Simmons would just dunk all over Lonzo Ball? Recently, Embiid was saying that, essentially, he's just playing around and actually loves Lonzo. We'll see what happens on the court, but these young players will definitely want to put on a show.
