Report: Sixers believed to have a ‘significant interest’ in Caldwell-Pope

The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to find a way to fix some of their depth issues. One name that has been floated around is Austin Rivers, but he might not be a great fit and it looks like he's going to sign with the Grizzlies after being bought out by the Suns.

Another name that has been mentioned with the Sixers is Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the Sixers remain interested in the 25-year-old.

The Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans are believed to have a significant interest in Caldwell-Pope, so this could be an interesting week for Laker trade talk.

Caldwell-Pope struggled to start the season, but has improved as of late. In December, he's averaging 11.9 points on 47.4 percent shooting. The Rockets are another team with interest in KCP, writes Marc Stein. Kyler goes on to mentions that while the Sixers are looking to add, they seem unwilling to part with much when it comes to a trade.

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking for another wing player, specifically someone that can space the floor. The 76ers have been linked to a few names, but they seem unwilling to part with much to make a deal, so it will be interesting to see what surfaces this week.

Last season, the Sixers benefited from the buy-out market, signing both Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova to deals for the remainder of the year. The Sixers have some expiring contracts they could offer in a trade (Chandler, Muscala, Korkmaz), but subtracting one of them for a small upgrade wouldn't necessarily fix the depth problems. They have numerous second-round picks they can include in a trade as well if that helps, but right now, unless they pull the trigger on a Fultz deal, it looks like they'll stand pat.
