Nelson to miss 2015 season with torn ACL: The Green Bay Packers' fears were confirmed Monday, when an MRI revealed that wide receiver Jordy Nelson will miss the 2015 season with a torn ACL that he suffered in Sunday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The loss of Nelson is a big blow to the Packers' offense, as Nelson has been one of the top receivers in the NFL since 2011, and was coming off a season where he set career-highs in receptions (151) and yards (1,519) to go along with 13 touchdowns.

The injury occurred on a play where Nelson caught a high Aaron Rogers pass on a curl route, but slipped when trying to evade a defender after landing on the turf.

With Nelson out for the season, Randall Cobb is now the Packers' top weapon in the receiving game.

Vick to meet with Steelers: Current free agent and former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is reportedly visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Steelers are looking for a backup quarterback after it was announced that Bruce Gradkowski will require surgery after suffering a dislocated thumb in Sunday's preseason game.

Vick was a member of the New York Jets last season, appearing in 10 games and starting three. The 35-year-old completed 64 of 121 pass attempts for 604 yards and three touchdowns while adding 153 yards on the ground.

Hoyer earns Texans' starting QB job: Houston Texans head coach Bill O' Brien announced on Monday that Brian Hoyer will be the team's starting quarterback in 2015.

"In the end, I thought that Brian showed me the most consistency, the most composure in certain situations, the experience in our system," O'Brien told reporters. "All those different things that go into the fact that I think he's ready to be our starter.

Hoyer beat out Ryan Mallett for the starting job. Neither player made much of a case for himself in last Saturday's game against the Denver Broncos. Mallett got the start, finishing 5-of-7 for just 23 yards. Hoyer looked slightly better, finishing 7-of-11 for 52 yards.

The Texans signed Hoyer back in March to a two-year, $10 million deal. The 29-year-old started 13 games for the Cleveland Browns in 2014, completing 242-of-438 pass attempts for 3,326 yards while throwing 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Wayne signs with Patriots: The New England Patriots signed veteran receiver Reggie Wayne to a 1-year deal Monday.

The 14-year veteran caught 64 passes for 779 yards and just two touchdowns last season for the Indianapolis Colts, whom Wayne was drafted by in the first round of the 2001 NFL draft.

The Patriots are thin at receiver, with Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, and Aaron Dobson all down with injuries, although Edelman is expected to be ready for Week 1.

In his career, Wayne has 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards, and ranks 22nd all-time among NFL receivers with 82 touchdowns.
