Cousins named Redskins starting QB: Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden announced Monday that Kirk Cousins will be the team's starting quarterback for the 2015 season.

"When it's all said and done, after all the film we've gone through, after all the offseason activity, all the training camp footage, we feel like at this time, Kirk Cousins gives us the best chance to win and that's where we're going," Gruden said Monday. "It's Kirk's team."

The news came after original starter Robert Griffin III was unable to play in Saturday night's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Griffin, who is recovering from a concussion suffered during the team's second preseason game, was originally cleared to play, but an independent neurologist declared that Griffin could not participate the day before the game.

Fred Jackson visiting Seahawks after being cut by Bills: Fred Jackson might be close to finding a new home after being cut by the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

Jackson, who spent eight seasons with the Bills, is visiting the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday and is expected to sign with the team, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Jackson would be reunited with former Bills teammate, Marshawn Lynch. The duo played together during the 2007-2010 seasons before Lynch was traded to Seattle in 2010.

The 32-year-old was released by the Bills after the team's third preseason game. Over eight seasons in Buffalo, Jackson rushed for 5,646 yards (third in franchise history) and 30 touchdowns on 1,279 carries.

Richardson released by Raiders: If Trent Richardson wasn't already an NFL bust, he certainly is now.

After seeking a season of redemption as a member of the Oakland Raiders, the 25-year-old was released on Monday after signing a two-year deal just five months ago.

This most recent failed experiment marks the third team that has moved on from the former third overall draft-pick. Richardson was drafted by the Cleveland Browns to be the team's running back of the future, but was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 for a first-round draft-pick.

In two seasons with the Colts, Richardson rushed for just 977 yards and six touchdowns. The team cut Richardson back in March after two disappointing seasons.

Taylor to open 2015 as Bills' starting QB: Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan announced on Monday that Tyrod Taylor will open the 2015 season as the team's starting quarterback.

The 26-year-old veteran won the job over candidates EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel. He has never started a game at the NFL-level in his five seasons.

Taylor has completed 24-of-31 passes for 236 yards during the preseason, but his ability to run is what Ryan really admires about the quarterback.

"Obviously, you know about [Taylor]'s accomplishments as a runner," Ryan said Monday. "I mean, it's very well documented. When you have more rushing yards than Michael Vick at [Virginia Tech], that's pretty obvious that he has that ability."
