The Piitsburgh Penguins have acquired Edmonton winger David Perron. Pittsburgh sends forward Rob Klinkhammer and a 2015 first round draft pick to Edmonton for the 26 year old forward.

Perron has five goals and 19 points in 38 games this year for the Oilers. Last season he set career bests in goals (28) and points (57). Perron was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He has 117 goals and 274 points in 456 games with St. Louis and Edmonton.

Caps take Classic

Former Chicago Blackhawk Troy Brouwer scored with 12.9 seconds left in regulation to beat his former team 3-2 in the 2015 NHL Winter Classic yesterday in Washington. While Brouwer scored the winner, the Capitals can thank their penalty killers for giving them a chance to win.

Holding a slim 2-1 lead midway through the second period, Washington was forced to kill 1:31 of 5 on 3 penalty time. Chicago did not register a shot during the power play. Overall, Chicago went 1 for 6 with the man advantage. Braden Holtby made 33 saves for the win.

Chicago is now 0-2 in the annual New Year's Day outdoor game.
