Sergei Federov has company. Alexander Ovechkin has tied the hall of famer for most goals scored by a Russian born player in NHL history. Ovechkin scored his 483rd career goal in Washington's 3-2 shootout victory over Toronto on Saturday night.

It took Federov 18 seasons to reach that mark. Ovechkin has done it in just over 10. That breaks down to a goals per season average of over 40. He will have a chance to set the mark when Washington takes on the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

It seems only fitting that the record be broken against the team Federov started his career with.

Parise

Minnesota wild leading goal scorer Zach Parise can be added to the list of impact players now sidelined. Parise sprained his MCL in a 3-2 loss to Nashville last week and is listed as week to week.

Through 13 games, Parise has seven goals and two assists. Since signing with Minnesota he is far and away been their best scorer. In three plus seasons he has 87 goals almost doubling the output of the next closest player.
