Eagles Offseason: Birds Finalizing Deal To Send Bryce Huff To 49ers

The Eagles are freeing up a roster spot.
On Friday, the Eagles agreed to a deal, in theory, that would send Bryce Huff to the 49ers.
ESPN sources: 49ers and Eagles are working to finalize a trade that will send edge rusher Bryce Huff to San Francisco for a mid-round pick. The trade cannot and would not be processed until after June 1. But both sides are working to make it happen, and Huff already has reworked… pic.twitter.com/FJeGc9Cfwx

The deal would be finalized come June in order to save the Eagles the max cap space.
As part of facilitating the trade, a restructured deal was worked out with Huff that drops his $17 million to just $9 million on the cap hit for the season.
Before the trade can get finalized next week, the Eagles restructured Bryce Huff’s contract this week. He was set to make about $17 million fully guaranteed this season from Philadelphia, but the Eagles now will take on only $9.05 million in salary, leaving the 49ers responsible… https://t.co/uFQJxHvmf1

Huff appeared to be breaking out last season, but then got injured. He returned at the end of the season just to ride the bench.
He will reunite with Robert Saleh, who helped him become a premiere free agent last off season before he fell flat in Philly.
The reported return is a mid-round pick, though the bigger gain for the Eagles is an extra roster spot on the 53-man that they can use to store an extra player, likely a more developmental one or a draft pick. That or they can add a veteran without having to risk another spot for a younger player.
