Jeremy Maclin Hopes to Remain In Philadelphia

MaclinSoon to be free-agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin addressed his impending free agent status Saturday and talked about his desire to remain an Eagle.

Jeremy Maclin will be a free agent when the NFL league year opens on March 11th, but that doesn't mean he is looking for real estate outside of the Philadelphia area.

During the Philadelphia Soul tryout Saturday at the Novacare Complex, Maclin addressed his contract situation and impending free agency.

"I've always stated this is where I want to be. The Eagles have stated the same thing," Maclin said Saturday at the NovaCare Complex before tryouts for the Soul of the arena league. "We'll continue to get on the same page with all that and just get something done."

The fifth-year receiver says he is optimistic about returning in time to take the field with his teammates later this spring, after tearing his ACL during training camp last July.

"Training camp is no question," Maclin said. "OTAs, I'll be able to run around and stuff, probably just without contact. I'm in a very good place at this stage of my rehab."

Earlier this offseason Maclin stated that he would be open to accepting a one-year deal to return to the Eagles, but reports recently surfaced that the New York Jets may be interested in making the Missouri product one of their top offseason targets.

Regardless of how it plays out, Maclin understands that this process is similar to a marathon than a sprint, in the run up to the league year opening.

"With the way this thing is set up, I can't really talk to anybody, and anybody can't talk to you," Maclin said. "I'm just taking it day-by-day."
