Cliff Lee made his return to the mound after a lengthy stay on the 60-Day DL. Lee went on the DL as the team was still struggling to stay in the race and comes off it to a team that is all but certain to start selling pieces in the next ten days, possibly including him.

Lee was shaky to say the least.  He allowed a career high 12 hits and 6 earned runs. The velocity was there which was a nice sign but the stuff wasn't.  He made it through 5 innings working on a half decent start but was knocked around in the 6th by our old buddy Hunter Pence and Adam Duvall before being lifted from the game. Lee will most likely get a crack at Arizona on Saturday.

The offense, to their credit, did their best against Vogelsong who was also not sharp surrendering 11 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) over three innings before being lifted in the 4th. Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard did the damage RBI wise but it was a singles fest from most of the line up.

Unfortunately that would be it for the offense for the Phillies and the Giants would add once more in the 7th with a RBI triple from Pence off Jeff Manship to conclude the 7-4 loss. Phillies are back at it tomorrow night. It's Roberto Hernandez vs. Yusmeiro Petit who will be filling in for Matt Cain who was replaced on the DL earlier today.
