Phillies claim pitcher Dalier Hinojosa from Boston

Jeff Todd of MLBTR reports that the Phillies have claimed Cuban right handed pitcher Dalier Hinojosa off waivers from Boston. Hinojosa was DFA'd last week to make room for pitching prospect Brian Johnson. He has been optioned to Lehigh Valley.

Hinojosa spent the first eight years of his career in professional baseball pitching for Indios de Guantanamo before defecting in 2013. Boston signed him soon after and he's spent most of his time in Pawtucket over the past two seasons. Hinojosa makes for an interesting addition to the Phillies organization. One imagines he could find his way to the bigs with the bullpen as taxed and subject to trade rumors as the Phillies'.

This season in Pawtucket, Hinojosa currently holds a 3.21 ERA over 42 innings pitched with 39 strike outs and 17 walks. WHIP is 1.33.
