Atlanta, GA – Failing in the clutch hits department, the Phillies looked alright at the plate tonight but just couldn't drive in base runners.

Adam Morgan gave everything that was needed and more tonight. In just his second official major league start, Morgan looked like a veteran holding the Braves to five hits, and two runs, over seven innings. His only two mistakes left the park off the bats of Jonny Gomes in the 2nd and Juan Uribe in the 7th. Any starters not named Cole Hamels have looked so bad lately, it was really refreshing to see Morgan take charge tonight.

Offensively, Julio Teheran could have been had tonight. The Phillies managed seven hits off him over his seven innings of work There were multiple hit games from Maikel Franco and Freddy Galvis but it was the absence of run production from Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown that dried up any run support for Morgan. Morgan would score on an RBI from Cesar Hernandez in the 5th for the lone Phillies run.

In the end it was a tough night. It was a game that could have been won by the Phils but the big hit just wasn't there. They get another shot tomorrow night when Kevin Correia faces Alex Wood in Game 2 of the series in a nationally televised game on FOX.
