RIP Harry

(Last night's victory celebration)

On April 13th, 2009, the Phillies were visiting the Nationals on what was the home opener there. Harry Kalas was in the booth for pre-game, as usual. Nothing would end like usual though, as Harry would die in the booth a short time before the first pitch that day.

For those of us who listened to his voice every Summer for a couple of decades, it was a painful day, and painful season since then. I must admit that frankly, no one has really filled his void in the broadcast booth since. I still hold high hopes for Moyer and Stairs, but it's early.

I remember Harry's death in DC the same way I remember Ashburn's in New York, from my childhood. Both are two of the saddest days I've had as a Phillies fan.
