Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn registered a goal and an assist each. Antti Niemi made 34 saves and the Dallas Stars knocked off the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.

The Flyers got an early power play to open the game. Jamie Benn was whistled for cross checking just 1:02 into the opening period. Philadelphia was unable to capitalize on the early chance.

Play moved up and down the ice for most of the first ten minutes. At 10:45, the Flyers had their second power play of the period when the Stars were whistled for too many men. Again they could not score.

Antti Niemi mad at least two saves in tight to kill the penalty and preserve the scoreless tie.

Dallas began to push the pace after the kill. With just under a minute to play in the period, Tyler Seguin netted his fourth goal of the season from in tight to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. Benn and John Klingberg had he assists.

At one point down 7-6 in shots on goal, the Stars ended up out shooting the Flyers 14-7 for the period and went to the dressing room up 1-0.

It took the Stars just 11 seconds to extend the lead to 2-0. Benn netted his sixth goal of the season as he beat Mason to the glove side. Seguin picked up the assist.

The Flyers would get their third man advantage at the 4:55 mark. Antoine Roussel laid an illegal open ice hit on Brayden Schenn and was called for interference. Once again they failed to score.

Six minutes later Roussel was at it again. This time he was called for slashing around Mason. The Flyers would not get the power play as Ryan White was whistled for a double minor in the ensueing scrum.

Like the Flyers, Dallas was unable to score with the extra man. The period ended with the Stars holding a 2-0 lead.

Aside from some four on four play about six minutes in, the first eight minutes of the third saw Dallas clamp down in their own end not allowing Philadelphia much time or space.

At 8:57 the Flyers were able to finally break through as Sean Couturier netted his first of the season to cut the Dallas lead to 2-1. Wayne Simmonds and Matt Read picked up the assists.

The Flyers went on their fourth power play with just over six minutes to go in regulation. Once again a combination of Dallas penalty killers and Niemi kept the Flyers off the scoresheet.

Any chance the Flyers had at a comeback was sealed away when Matt Read was called for slashing with just 2:06 remaining in the third.

The Flyers will be in action tomorrow night as they head to Boston to take on the Bruins. Gametime is 8:00.
